Sanja Stefanovic in China

 Sanja Stefanovic, our Head of Music, became a visiting professor and a foreign expert for piano at the Music Departament of HNUST (Hunan University of Science and Technology) from the 23rd February 2014. She will hold this post for one year.  She has 15 students and teaches Bachelor and Master Programmes. Pro Art & Co is proud that we will have a chance to cooperate with such distinguished educational institution in China and we hope that ourcollaboration will be prosperous for both sides.

Hunan University of Science and Technology 

Situated in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, the former residence of the late Chairman Mao Zedong, Hunan University of Science and Technology (Hereafter HNUST) was established as Xiangbei Construction College on the eve of Chinese Liberation in 1949. In 2003, two full-time undergraduate universities (Xiangtan Polytechnic University and Xiangtan Normal University) were amalgamated with the approval of both the State Ministry of Education and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government.

HNUST covers an area of 3107 mu (about 208 hectares). It boasts of 20 schools and offers 88 undergraduate specialties. The university has 11 faculties, i.e. Philosophy, Economics, Education, Law, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Management and Arts. It has 24 first-class and 125 second-class accreditation units for the Master’s Degree.The number of students totals 34,000, of whom 2,000 are postgraduates. The facilities of teaching, scientific research, study and living are completely available, with beautiful campuses and excellent school-running conditions. Telephone, TV, air-conditioner, writing desk, wardrobe, independent toilet, shower equipment and network interface are available in foreign students’ dormitories. The university has developed collaborative links in cooperative education and scientific researches with over 20 universities in the U.S., U.K., Japan and Hong Kong, Taiwan Areas. The university enrolls foreign students in the specialties of science, engineering and liberal arts, such as Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering and Chinese Language and Literature, etc.


HNUST has more than 2,300 faculty members. Among its 1,545 full-time faculty and professional researchers, nearly 300 are full professors and 520 hold doctor’s degree, of which 8 are national famous teachers enlisted  in The New Century Talents Project, 32 are awarded special government allowances of the State Council, 6 are included in  New Century Talent Supporting Project by Education Ministry of China, 4 are distinguished Professors in Hunan Furong Scholar Program, 17 are provincial outstanding teachers and educators, 46 are candidates of Hunan 121 New Century Talents Project, 27 are Hunan Provincial Academic Leaders and prospective developing objects as well as 156 provincial young backbone teachers and prospective developing objects.


Located in Jiuhua economic development zone – the core of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan city cluster. Neighboring the exits of Changsha-Xiangtan West Expressway (S41), Shanghai-Ruili Expressway (G60), Beijing-Hongkong-Macau Expressway (G4), Guangzhou Expressway (G55), and Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway station, HNUST enjoys a convenient transportation. The campus of more than 3000 acres, abundant in lush green trees and grasses, is a garden-style unit and a Two-type demonstration campus, where beautiful pavilions and towers, ponds and lakes, flowers of diverse types and fragrance, can be relished throughout the year.

Cooperation and Exchange

HNUST has always operated in accordance with the principle of open education and has established cooperative relationship with enterprises and public institutions in 30 provinces, cities and autonomous regions all over the country. In the meantime, it has been active in international and regional academic exchange and cooperation. So far, with more than 40 universities in the United States, Britain and other countries and 10 colleges and universities in Taiwan, it has carried out cooperation in school- running and scientific research. Many foreign experts have been invited to teach or give lectures here, overseas students enrolled. In recent years, a lot of students have gone abroad as exchange students or to get a master’s degree, and many undergraduates and teachers have been sent to the United States and Thailand to teach Chinese as a foreign language. The corps of volunteers who teach Chinese in Thailand were once received by President Xi Jinping.
