THE CITY OF LONDON: HERITAGE AND HISTORY

31 OCTOBER - 7 NOVEMBER 2010

Britain is an island, close to Europe’s mainland, but also different and its history is presented through a series of events, which happened under different historical circumstances. Our goal is to help people to understand this history through visiting the places instrumental for the occurrences, which forged British history – especially focused on London. There are many views on what is the British heritage, so by visiting the heritage sites you would resolve this question.

Our aims are to involve our own group of learners with a similar group from other countries to learn about history of London and to visit places, which are different epochs’ landmarks. There are also cultural similarities with other parts of the world, especially Europe. This is the most obvious in architecture, art, fashion, living, decorative objects, food etc. On the other side there are original ideas and different objects, unique for a particular country and they are transferred to other countries through the constant mobilities of people and goods.

The groups of 12 people and one from Britain would work together, take photos-videos and write about their observations on daily basis (diary of events and visits). We also plan to discuss their experiences in relation with the history of London and perhaps in comparison with their own country. The outcome will be a booklet, which we should produce after the workshops.

EU COMENIUS & GRUNDTVIG PROJECT
SEARCHING FOR PARTNERS
25-30 November 2008

Pro Art & Co applied for a grant to attend the Grundtvig/Comenius EU contact seminar in Besançon, France, in November 2008, seeking for partners whith whom we can start a new project based on the use of art and heritage in adult education. We found 9 partners, from the Czech Republic, Poland, France, Italy, Finland, Latvia, Lethonia, Spain, and Norway, and we consider ourselves lucky, because all our partners are from organisations working in a similar field and promoting an innovative method in adult education. We hope we shall be successful in proceeding with our project. Watch this space for further information.
